Watch The Famous Chef in Action
Steven Craik, the award winning chef at The Famous Grouse Experience at Glenturret Distillery, Crieff, since 1999, will be taking part in the cooking demonstrations in the Food Festival Marquee on Saturday and Sunday. Originally from Cape Town Steven moved to Perthshire when he was eight years old.

Steven has already won numerous awards during his fledgling career. Major highlights include ‘junior chef of the year gold medal award’ after gaining first place in the ScotHot awards for meat and whisky, and second in the shellfish category. Established for over 30 years,

The Famous Grouse!ScotHot is a highly prestigious award in the catering and hospitality industry in the UK. Now, with over 15 years experience in catering, Steven loves working at the Crieff distillery with the many exciting opportunities it brings. Steven’s job has taken him all over the world where he introduces people to his famous whisky dinners, called Fasan Ur, where each course is served with a different whisky and in a variety of drinking formats. Within the last two years, Steven has visited Moscow, Brazil, Frankfurt, Stockholm and has even had the opportunity to cook in Caesar’s Palace, the famous Las Vegas landmark.

Distillery PanoramaWhen Steven is not travelling the world acting as a brand ambassador for Scotland’s favourite whisky, he is the full-time executive chef at The Famous Grouse Experience and runs a cookery school, which is proving popular as a great gift idea or as a treat for yourself!

The restaurant at the visitor centre has just unveiled a new menu, which features locally sourced favourites and home baking.

Steven said: “Consumers' tastes are changing and people are now much more interested in where their food originates. As Perthshire is one of Scotland's great natural larders, producing great quality vegetables, fruit and meat, it makes sense for us to be working closely with as many local producers as possible.

The Famous Grouse Experience restaurant is open daily from 9.30am to 6.00pm for tea, coffee and home baking while hot and cold food is served between 12 noon and 3.30pm. For something really special, The Grouse Room ‘a la carte’ lunches are served Friday to Sunday.

The Famous Cook School
The Famous Cook SchoolIf you want a day being sworn at and humiliated by an aggressive Michelin starred chef, our cookery class just isn’t for you…

We like fun cooking and start the day with The Famous Grouse malt challenge. You’ll nose and taste your way through 10 different aromas found in our whisky to discover which malts complement different foods.

“…being sworn at and humiliated by an aggressive Michelin starred chef…”

Our Executive Chef, Steven Craik will then show you how to create an array of delicious courses before letting you loose to recreate 3 of the dishes yourself.

But pay attention, because you’ll be eating your creations for lunch along with 2 different whisky serves…

Visit Our Famous Whisky Bar

The Famous Grouse ExperienceDuring the 3 day Dundee Flower and Food Festival The Famous Grouse Bar will be open, selling whisky cocktails for you to enjoy, and bottles for you to take home. Richard Prendiville, our Dramollier (whisky expert) will be hosting special whisky cocktail and malt workshops. He will also be there to advise you on how to match whisky with different types of food.

It’s a tough job but someone has to do it. Richard Prendiville is the envy of his pals – and whisky connoisseurs the world over. While he prefers the term “dramollier” to “drambuster,” the 32-year-old plays a key role at The Famous Grouse Experience.
